0 Ghulam Azam associated with intellectuals' execution

Human privileges activist and freedom fighter Sultana Kamal told the war crimes tribunal on Wednesday that Jamaat-e-Islami guru Ghulam Azam 'must happen to be the main one to approve the execution of intellectuals' in 1971 throughout the Liberation War.

Former Jamaat chief Ghulam Azam's defence counsel had requested the prosecution witness whether she understood when and where Azam, indicted for war crimes on Apr 13, had approved the murder from the Bangladeshi intellectuals.

The witness stated the leader of Al Badr, Motiur Rahman Nizami, seemed to be an innovator from the Jamaat. "And because the Jamaat chief should have approved the accomplishments."

The 3-judge Worldwide Crimes Tribunal - 1, established to try crimes against humanity throughout the 1971 Liberation War, has indicted Ghulam Azam for complicity, incitement, conspiracy and planning of war crimes.

Wednesday was the 3rd time the 63-year war-time nurse found testify from the Jamaat guru.

Sultana Kamal stated in answer another question the former Jamaat chief is made an accused in 2 cases underneath the Collaborators Act and was later made persona non grate in Bangladesh.

The defense counsel requested whether this was an official statement or perhaps a political statement in those days, that the witness stated, "It had been an expression of public sentiment in those days.”
